It may be argued that management philosophy is simply one set of ideas about best management practices. And it is certainly true that there are many different viewpoints concerning how to best manage an organization. These viewpoints have been used by successful managers and passed on to their followers. But what explains management and how to best apply it to any given organization?

Management is the art of encouraging people to do their best work to achieve their best results, in order to achieve success. There is no single correct way to manage, though there are many strategies set forth to do so. Best management practice often depends on the individual manager consistently implementing a set of skills so that others will work in harmony.

Allowing people to manage their own work, while systematically solving communication issues between groups of people is often the top job of a manager. This requires a delicate balance of experience, intuition, knowledge of the various jobs working towards a common goal, and the ability to help people get along.

One of the best things that an excellent manager can implement, is a focus on achieving goals by setting clear objectives. Workers respond well when they know the objectives and what their personal work will mean in terms of reaching the specified goals. Managers do well to streamline work processes so that workers can complete goals within reasonable time frames.

For managers, quality must accompany effective ways to generate revenue, while keeping costs contained. Cutting wasteful work patterns is the equivalent of cutting wasteful spending. And identifying areas of waste will result in bigger profit margins for businesses. The tough part here is to reduce waste thoughtfully, so that good workers are not threatened or lost.

Some top strategies for managing require that a systematic set of questions be applied to each business circumstance. These include, but are not limited to, asking yourself whether or not you have plans for raising company revenue, reducing company costs, and maintaining company quality. These are the basic three key points that each person in charge of these resources must ask, and then proceed to implement concrete methods for achieving each point.

Additional focus must turn toward the clients and customers of the company. Knowing what they want, what they will buy, how much of any given product they will purchase, and the like are all part of developing a personal philosophy of management. Learning about customers may be a formal process, or a casual one, but care must be giving to keeping excellent lines of communication open between the company and its customers.

The organizational design of any company will dictate the number and functions of the members of the management team. Each manager will have duties that are specific to that particular position, but the manager must utilize a set of strategies and ideals that work best to achieve company goals. Some will work top down, designating work and overseeing results. Others will work horizontally, to encourage teamwork, camaraderie, and creativity for workers.

Top business management schools are quite famous for their philosophies. It is possible to adopt a systematic set of points to consider when managing that is taken from the ideals put forth by these schools. Most have continued emphasis on asking questions, because asking questions solves unanswered problems. The choice of which set of points use as strategy depends upon the need for control posed by each managerial personality and company situation.

Management philosophy is ultimately a fascinating and useful form of business sense. Some experienced business people actually believe it to be a good dose of common sense combined with education, experience, practical application, and drive to succeed. Choosing the best philosophy and how to apply it to an organization depends on who will manage, and how the organization is structured.

what you mentioned is operational definition of management, it is good but it is not in accord with title. there are various management philosophies but what you mentioned is only some part of operational definition of positivist perspective.
